- Respect your husband. I prefer worship, but let's not quibble here :-)
- Guard your heart. It's locked. No one can enter except Swami. Only he has the magic password
- God, Husband, Kids in that order. For me, Husband is God
- Forgive. Always, Always, Always. Did I say Always?
- Over Communicate, but with respect. Say how you feel, but don't cut him down. Watch your tone! Here is one rule that I follow: If somebody in the other room can hear my voice, I am being too loud. Your words should fall like rose petals on him, not like rocks
- Schedule a regular date night. Very true. Specially if you have kids
- Never say the "D" Word. Say it? I don't even think it!! Sacrilegious!!
- Learn his Love language. Yay! Acts of Service, the one that rocks my soul is one of them!
- Never talk negatively about him. This is divine law for me. I would rather die than talk bad about Swami
- Choose to Love. Submit and Obey. Sometimes Love alone is not enough to quell your ego :-)

ReplyDeleteThe woman writing this has been married twice before, so I really felt like I was listening to somebody who was so much wiser than I am on this issue. If only more couples followed her advice, we would have many more happy marriages in this country!

ReplyDeleteIn my experience, strong men like Swami are real gentlemen. If I talk softly and respectfully, I can tell him anything and he is a wonderful listener. That does not mean I will get my way. That just means, I will get a fair hearing. Thank God for that! In the end, he makes the final decision in our home.
DeleteAs far as raising one's voice is concerned, the problem is that when you try to out dominate a dominant man by raising your voice or yelling. they can shut you down pretty quickly and with a weak man, well, there are better ways to manipulate them, than shouting, so either way, raising your voice is not really effective :-) and besides I feel it is very unladylike to shout. What can I say, I am old fashioned that way!
