We begin October with Navratri (Nine Nights). Navratri Starts tomorrow and as the name suggests goes on for Nine days and nights!!
Navratri celebrates and worships the feminine as divine. Specifically Durga (or Parvati, wife of my favorite Hindu god Shiva, I wear his phallic symbol on my mangal sutra, my daasi collar. While Parvati is a devoted, loving, chaste and obedient wife, in her role of Durga, she briefly transforms into the ultimate female Dom to rid earth of evil!! )

Lots of dancing during Navratri. Here is the best song showing the dancing style during Navratri
We will end October with my best festival ever!!
October 22nd is "Karva Chauth"(Karva: pot, Chauth: fourth, for it is celebrated on the fourth day of the waning moon fortnight in the hindu lunar month of karthik).
For a Daasi like me, this is the most important Ritual of the year. Nothing symbolizes my worship of my Swami like the ritual of Karva Chauth does.

See a portion of a song here about it. Can you catch the word "Daasi" in the song? :-) I love the part where the heroine fakes fainting so that she can break her fast by drinking water from her lover's hand instead of the person her father is forcing her to marry!
A glorious weekend to everybody. I know I am going to have lot's of fun this weekend!!
